Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Carlos Lopez sanctioned the Estate of Diego A. Maradona on May 16, 2023, as the Court found that in Maradona’s 2015 complaint against Claudia Villafañe, Maradona used misleading language regarding an audit that was later found not to exist. Judge Lopez also found that Maradona “acted with deliberate and contumacious disregard for the Court’s Audit Order,” which mandated that Maradona produce the purported audit. As a result, Maradona’s Estate was sanctioned with the striking of portions of the complaint and with attorney’s fees in favor of MPA LAW’s client, Claudia Villafañe.
